Technology, Semiconductors & Intellectual Property
Vijay advises on intellectual property, technology transfer and technically intensive commercial matters. He works from Mumbai.
Before the bar he spent more than two decades in scientific research and technology commercialisation: semiconductor devices and fabrication, silicon radiation detectors, CCD and CMOS image sensors, micro and nano characterisation, MEMS and NEMS, solid-state gas sensors and environmental instrumentation. He is a named inventor on patents covering semiconductor detector architecture, image sensing, magnetic nano-lubricants, solid-state neutron detection and gas sensing, and has authored more than fifty journal and conference papers.
For a manufacturer this matters in a particular way. On a technology platform the protectable value is rarely the device alone: it sits across process, circuitry, firmware, calibration, packaging, algorithms and the data the product returns. Vijay reads a specification the way the engineer wrote it and then advises on what is patentable, what is better held as a trade secret, and what has to be carried by contract. That work covers patent specifications and claim reading, prior art and validity, infringement analysis, technology transfer and licensing, joint development and confidentiality structures, and disputes where the technical question decides the legal one.
He writes the firm's notes on intellectual property, technology and manufacturing.
