The note

A periodic note on changes in Indian corporate, capital markets, insolvency, banking, projects, employment and tax law, written from the primary source. It is an informational publication and nothing in it is legal advice.

What it carries

  • What changed in the period: the Act, rule, regulation, notification or judgment, with a link to the source as published.
  • What the change does, stated as a position and not as a summary of press coverage.
  • What follows from it for a company or a board, and by when.
  • The notes published since the last issue, by practice area.

Past notes are published in full at Insights and are readable without subscribing.

Signing up

This site carries no form of any kind. A person who wants the note writes to alerts@juriseagle.com from the address it should be sent to. That address is then sent one message asking it to confirm. Nothing is sent until the confirmation comes back, and an address that does not confirm is deleted.

The notes are also published on the site as they are written, and the feed carries each one as it appears. Neither needs an address.

What is asked for is the following, and nothing else.

Name
So the note can be addressed. Optional.
Email address
Where the note is sent. Required, and confirmed before anything is sent.
Telephone
Optional. Used only if an email to the address given bounces.
Organisation
Optional. Used to judge which notes are worth sending.
Designation
Optional. Used for the same reason.

What is recorded, and why

This notice is given under section 5 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, before any personal data is collected.

Purpose
Sending the note, and nothing else. The data is not used to approach anyone about a matter.
Basis
Consent, given by asking for the note in writing and confirmed by a second email before the first note is sent. A subscription that is not confirmed is deleted.
Record kept
The data given, the date and time consent was given, the date and time it was confirmed, and the version of this notice in force at the time.
Who processes it
The practice, and the email provider that sends the note on its behalf. It is not sold, rented, or shared for any other purpose.
Retention
Until the subscription is withdrawn. The record of withdrawal is kept after that, as proof the request was honoured.
Stopping it
Every note carries a one-click unsubscribe link. A person may also ask what is held about them, have it corrected, or have it erased, by writing to alerts@juriseagle.com.

The full notice is at Privacy. The terms on which this site is published are at Terms.

Subscribing creates no advocate-client relationship, and the note is not an offer of representation in any matter.
